CAIHS Monday Morning Message

September 18, 2023

Message from Mr. Maloney

Families,

Please make sure that your student has their chromebooks charged and ready to go on each and every day. We want to make sure that everyone is ready to learn and they have their chromebooks and notebooks ready to go so that they can take part in the teachers lessons.

Below are reminders that we continue to emphasize throughout the school day.

  • All doors are now alarmed and the only doors that we enter or exit are the front door entrance from the stairs (even during transitions between CAIHS and CASH).
  • Students must wear their ID badges. They will wear their badges from last year until new ones are issued after picture day.
  • Students may not wear hats and hoods in school.
  • Students have to cover their mid-drift at all times. No half-shirts are permitted.
  • All classrooms will utilize the Cell Phone Lockers. If they have their cell phones it is expected that they place their phones in the lockers during the class period.
  • Students have three minutes to transition from class to class. This week we will start hallway sweeps if the students are in the hallways after the bell rings.

ATTENDANCE

Regular school attendance is imperative for success in school. If your child is absent from school, please email the reason for the excuse that includes the date and purpose of the absence. You can email these to our attendance office at CAIHSAttendance Students can also bring notes down to the attendance window located in the main office. Please see the attendance requirements for all students below.

  • If a student misses 18 days of school and/or 9 days in a semester, and/or misses the same class 18 times, and/or is habitually late to school, he/she will be required to have a School Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) meeting. From the meeting, the team will discuss the student’s attendance and make a potential recommendation for retention or being held back.

  • In order to receive credit, a student must attend 90% of his/her class days.

  • If a student misses more than 10 lawful or unlawful absences, requires an excuse from a licensed practitioner of the healing arts or medical doctor.

  • A student can be retained for failing to show academic achievement for promotion.

  • Retention or being held back shall only be considered for the worst-case scenarios and parents/guardians will be notified and a part of the process.

CAIHS families, should you have any questions, please reach out to CAIHS's administration.

Parents - Please Update your Child's Information!

The District will continue to utilize PowerSchool Enrollment to manage our online Student Information Update process. This system is a secure and streamlined process which allows the District to verify all student demographic, emergency, and medical information. The system will also allow families to electronically sign annual permission forms.

An email was sent on August 15th to the first parent/guardian listed for each current student in grades 1-12 who attended Coatesville Area School District last year and are returning for the 2022-2023 school year. This email notification will include your student’s snapcode and a snapcode link, which will take you directly to your child’s online registration.

Should you have any questions or concerns pertaining to the form, please do not hesitate to contact us at 610-466-2420.

Parent Drop Off and Pick Up

Below you will see the directions on how to drop off students and pick up students from the Intermediate High School. In addition, we have added a short video to assist with this procedure.

New this year, is that all 8th and 9th grade students that are getting dropped off have to enter from Foundry Road (Red Raider Road). You will not be permitted to enter from the front entrance at CASH.

Students can start to enter the building at 7:05 a.m. They can enter at the Main Entrance and Auditorium Entrance. All students must be in First Period by 7:15 a.m.

Students will be dismissed at 2:10 p.m. and they will board their buses. If picking up students , please drive safely.

As always the first two weeks of school there will be timing issues with buses as everything gets situated, please be considerate as we work on getting the students onto the buses as they maybe running a little late. I promise you that it will get quicker as we move forward.

  • Please remember to charge your Chromebook and be sure to bring your school issued Chromebook and Charger the first day of school. If your child doesn’t have a Chromebook, they will be issued one during the first few weeks of school.

  • For new students- chromebooks are being formatted and will be handed out to those students in the 1st and 2nd weeks of school.
  • For students who have broken or lost chromebooks we will lend you a chromebook until yours can be replaced.
